Junior IT Officer

About the role

A leading organization in the oil and gas sector, based in Nairobi, is looking to hire a Junior IT Officer through its recruiter, Stratostaff East Africa. The role provides technical and operational support by helping with hardware and software troubleshooting, supporting IT systems and users, keeping accurate IT records and assisting with the implementation and maintenance of technology solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide first-line technical support to employees, diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, network and user-access issues, and escalating complex incidents.
• Support daily administration of computers, network infrastructure, user accounts, Microsoft 365/Google Workspace and other business applications.
• Maintain IT asset and equipment registers, support device configuration and deployment, and manage user onboarding and offboarding with appropriate access rights.
• Implement routine security controls, software updates, antivirus protection, backups and access-management procedures, supporting compliance with IT and data-protection requirements.
• Monitor IT systems, keep service and incident records, document recurring issues and solutions, prepare basic IT reports and suggest improvements to reliability and productivity.

Required profile

• KCSE grade B+ and above.
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field.
• 1-3 years of relevant experience; fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
• Good understanding of IT systems, applications and basic troubleshooting.
• Strong analytical, communication and problem-solving skills, and a willingness to learn and work in a team.
