Junior Quality Assurance Engineer

About the role

Power Financial Wellness is a Nairobi-founded fintech platform serving workers across Africa with financial services such as earned wage access, savings, credit and insurance. It is hiring a Junior QA Engineer to provide consistent test execution for the platform, working under QA leadership to deliver reliable releases through manual testing, test automation and clear defect reporting. The role covers translating requirements into test cases, validating fixes, supporting UAT and client escalations, with growth toward senior QA scope over 12-18 months.

Key responsibilities

• Manual testing: run regression cycles per release, write and maintain test cases against FRD acceptance criteria, and perform functional, smoke and exploratory testing.
• Test automation: build and maintain automated tests, identify repeatable scenarios for automation, and run and debug failing tests.
• Defect management: reproduce and document bugs, collaborate with developers on fixes and regressions, and support UAT defect triage and client escalations.
• Business collaboration: clarify requirements with business and client teams, handle day-to-day queries, and share recurring issues and documentation.

Required profile

• 1-2 years of software testing experience, suitable for early-career candidates.
• Understanding of testing principles, SDLC, regression testing, test cases and defect management.
• Ability to turn functional requirements into test scenarios and to document findings clearly.
• Good organisation, attention to detail, clear communication and teamwork.

Required skills

• Basic familiarity with test automation concepts and a scripting language or low-code tool.
• Preferred: automation tools such as Testsigma, Playwright, Selenium or Cypress; Postman and basic SQL; Git and CI/CD pipelines; Agile and UAT experience; exposure to fintech or banking platforms.
