About the role
The Kenya Policy Coordinator will implement ReDSS’s advocacy and policy strategy at national and county levels, working with a wide range of stakeholders to promote sustainable solutions for refugees and host communities in Kenya. The role supports the Kenya Manager in developing the operational plan and represents ReDSS members in relevant forums.
Key responsibilities
- Implement and monitor advocacy strategies, updating them according to changing dynamics.
- Monitor legislation and policy changes, providing analysis and recommendations.
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with government, humanitarian, development and civil‑society actors.
- Strengthen capacities of local authorities and partners through trainings and peer‑to‑peer exchanges.
- Lead engagement with Refugee‑Led Organizations to ensure community voices shape policy processes.
- Support the Kenya Manager in operational planning, reporting and compliance with DRC procedures.
Required profile
- University degree in Law, Political Science, International Relations or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum 5 years experience in policy coordination, evidence building and analysis in displacement contexts.
- Strong knowledge of socio‑economic and political dynamics of East Africa.
- Proven experience working with multi‑stakeholder initiatives and capacity‑development programmes.
- Ability to work effectively in multicultural environments.
Required skills
- Excellent coordination, facilitation and communication abilities.
- Strong analytical, writing and research skills for producing policy briefs.
- Proficiency in ICT tools, website template maintenance and knowledge‑management applications.
- Critical thinking and ability to translate evidence into policy guidance.
