Language Development Lead Practitioner

About the role

The Language Development Lead Practitioner will join the Education Team at the Aga Khan Schools Global Office and support multilingual learners across Pakistan, India and Kenya. The role focuses on strengthening academic English while preserving students' home languages, using an additive bilingual model.

Key responsibilities

• Audit current language instruction practices across the network of schools, covering reading, writing, listening, speaking and comprehension.
• Design and oversee a comprehensive Language Improvement Strategy for learners from early childhood to higher secondary, setting benchmarks, outcomes and professional‑development plans.
• Develop and implement an English language development programme for staff, including baseline assessments and learning opportunities.
• Model best teaching practices, team‑teach, and build the capacity of local teams to deliver sustainable language instruction.
• Align language proficiency targets with the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) and Cambridge English standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading English language training or teaching programmes in multilingual settings.
• Ability to work collaboratively with international and local education teams.
• Strong analytical skills to audit practices and identify best practices and challenges.
• Commitment to additive bilingualism and academic English development.
