Lead Internal Auditor

About the role

The Lead Internal Auditor will head the internal audit function for a manufacturing operation, ensuring robust risk management, compliance and control effectiveness across all business areas.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute risk‑based internal audits covering procurement, production, warehouse, inventory, finance and sales.
• Assess internal control frameworks, identify operational risks and recommend practical improvements.
• Prepare clear audit reports, present findings to senior management and follow up on remediation actions.
• Monitor compliance with occupational health and safety, environmental regulations and other statutory requirements.
• Maintain and enhance the use of ERP systems, particularly SAP, for data extraction and analysis.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance or related field.
• CPA (K) qualification is mandatory; CIA and/or CISA are a plus.
• Membership in a recognized professional body such as ICPAK or IIA is desirable.
• 3–5 years of internal audit experience, preferably in a manufacturing or animal‑feed production environment.
• Willingness to be based in Nakuru or relocate there.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of internal auditing standards and risk management.
• Proficiency with ERP systems, especially SAP.
• Analytical and reporting capabilities.
• Understanding of occupational health and safety and environmental compliance.
