Plant Controller – Manufacturing Finance Lead

About the role

Unga Holdings Limited is seeking a Plant Controller to lead financial planning and cost management for its manufacturing operations in Nakuru. The role combines budgeting, product costing, inventory control and people management to drive profitability and operational excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the plant budgeting process, gather data and support management decision‑making.
• Analyse costs, identify savings and implement efficiency initiatives to protect margins.
• Maintain accurate product costing in SAP, update activity types and overhead rates, and work with the Business Controller on pricing strategies.
• Ensure robust internal controls over revenue, expenditure and inventory to safeguard assets.
• Oversee inventory management, conduct monthly stock‑taking, reconcile variances and manage imported material tracking.
• Prepare timely plant performance reports, highlight variances and support payables/receivables functions.
• Develop the finance team through orientation, training, performance management and succession planning.
• Uphold the company’s code of conduct, compliance programmes and safety/GMP standards.

Required profile

• University graduate in a business‑related discipline.
• Qualified accountant (CPA(K), ACCA or equivalent).
• Minimum five years of finance experience in a manufacturing environment with proven inventory and production process results.
• Strong commercial acumen and ability to influence strategic decisions.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with SAP modules CO, MM and PP.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications.
