Librarian for US Navy Program

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Librarian to support a unique US Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role involves managing daily library operations and providing high‑quality resources and programming for military personnel and families.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee library operations, maintain collections, and ensure a clean, inviting environment.
• Assist patrons with research, resource location, and use of library systems and equipment.
• Catalog, organize, and maintain materials according to library science principles.
• Develop and promote programs, workshops, and events that support literacy, learning, and cultural activities.
• Train and mentor support staff and volunteers to deliver high‑quality service.

Required profile

• Four‑year degree in Library Science or related field, or two years of library experience with a high school diploma.
• Must possess a valid passport (minimum one‑year validity) and be able to obtain required visas and security clearances.
• Ability to complete required training and certifications (Customer Service, CPR, First Aid) and meet medical and deployment requirements.

Required skills

• Familiarity with cataloging systems and digital resource management.
• Proficiency with library management systems and general computer use.
