Loan Officer Intern – Western Kenya

About the role

The Loan Officer Intern will support Capen Credit Limited’s micro‑finance operations in Western Kenya. This full‑time position offers practical exposure to loan processing, customer acquisition and portfolio management, ideal for candidates seeking a career in financial services.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and acquire new customers through field visits, referrals and market engagement.
• Conduct KYC, business assessments and basic credit appraisals in line with company procedures.
• Process loan applications, follow up on approvals and ensure timely disbursement.
• Achieve targets for customer acquisition, loan disbursement and portfolio growth.
• Educate borrowers on loan terms, repayment schedules and responsible borrowing.
• Monitor repayment performance and flag early signs of repayment challenges.
• Collaborate with Verification and Collections teams to support quality lending.
• Maintain accurate customer records and submit regular reports and market feedback.

Required profile

• KCSE Certificate.
• Diploma or Degree in any relevant field.
• Valid National ID.
• Computer competency.
• Strong interest in sales, lending and customer service.
• Applicants must be 30 years of age or below.
