Manager, Lender Capacity Building

About the role

The Manager, Lender Capacity Building will lead the strategy and continuous improvement of Aceli's lender capacity building programme, supporting lending partners to expand and deepen agricultural SME loan portfolios across Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia.

Key responsibilities

• Review and own Aceli’s lender Capacity Building strategy and translate strategic priorities into actionable annual workplans.
• Identify and qualify capacity‑building candidates with country teams, assess institutional readiness and co‑design engagement scopes.
• Oversee active engagements across the five countries, track timelines, manage deliverables, handle escalations and ensure adherence to KPIs.
• Issue task‑order solicitations to pre‑qualified advisory providers, evaluate proposals, award contracts and monitor performance against Master Services Agreements.
• Lead the monitoring, evaluation and learning framework, maintain standard templates and compile programme‑level data for internal reviews and donor reporting.
• Manage the programme budget, approve activity‑based budgets, track co‑investments and provide regular financial forecasts.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Agricultural Economics, Development Studies or related field; Master’s degree is a plus.
• Minimum 8 years of relevant experience, including at least 4 years in advisory work or with financial institutions.
• Deep understanding of agricultural lending practices in sub‑Saharan Africa, including credit appraisal, loan structuring and portfolio risk management.
• Proven project‑management skills managing multiple assignments, external service providers and client relationships.
• Strong analytical capabilities to conduct financial diagnostics and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, with experience preparing high‑quality reports, briefs and presentations.
• Experience designing or contributing to monitoring, evaluation and learning frameworks.
