Market Development Internship – Climate Finance Unit

About the role

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Climate Change Division is seeking an intern to support market development activities within its Climate Finance Unit. This role will contribute to the Pro‑Congo project and broader adaptation and resilience initiatives in French‑speaking countries.

Key responsibilities

• Support incubation programmes for green entrepreneurs, including participating in calls, drafting minutes, preparing briefing notes, and coordinating overall programme activities.
• Conduct market and scoping research to identify target regions, sectors and stakeholders for market development in Francophone countries.
• Assist in developing research modules on topics such as carbon markets, payments for ecosystem services, and financial literacy.
• Coordinate with regional teams and local executing entities (Enterprise Support Organisations) across French‑speaking nations.
• Translate and adapt programme materials, communications and reports between English and French.
• Participate in internal meetings of the Climate Finance Unit and help prepare reports and communication resources.
• Undertake additional tasks as required to support the team’s objectives.

Required profile

• Enrolled in or recently completed a graduate programme, or in the final year of a bachelor’s degree.
• Academic background in International Relations, Geography, Environmental Science, Energy Policy, Communications, Business Administration or related fields.
• Strong research, analytical and writing skills.
• Fluency in English and French (both written and spoken).
