Programme Management Intern

About the role

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is seeking a Programme Management Intern to support its Regional Development Coordination (RDC) unit in Nairobi. The internship will last six months and offers hands‑on experience in coordinating UNEP’s engagement with UN Resident Coordinators and UN Country Teams across Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Support the drafting of minutes for RDC unit meetings.
• Conduct research and prepare background papers for meetings and reports.
• Draft speaking points for RDC‑coordinated processes.
• Collect, collate and analyse statistics on UNEP’s engagement with UNRCs and UNCTs in Africa.
• Develop presentations for RDC engagements and meetings.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Required profile

• First university degree in environmental science, conservation, natural resource management, engineering, project management, economics or a related field.
• Strong interest in international sustainable development programmes and projects.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations in a multicultural environment.
• Adaptability and teamwork orientation.
