Maternal and Newborn Health Coordinator – Turkana

About the role

The Kenya Red Cross Society is seeking a dedicated Maternal and Newborn Health Coordinator to lead and support health initiatives in Turkana. This full‑time position will focus on improving maternal and newborn outcomes through program implementation, quality improvement and coordination with local health facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and oversee maternal and newborn health (MNH) programmes in Turkana County.
• Implement quality improvement activities and provide mentorship to health facility staff.
• Strengthen referral systems, EmONC services and newborn care protocols.
• Collaborate with county health authorities to align activities with national health strategies.
• Support data collection, monitoring and reporting for MNH indicators.

Required profile

• Diploma in Clinical Medicine or Nursing from a recognized institution.
• Registered and licensed by the relevant Kenyan professional regulatory body.
• Minimum three (3) years of experience in maternal and newborn health, RMNCAH or hospital/health‑facility service delivery.
• Demonstrated experience in MNH programme implementation, quality improvement, mentorship or facility‑based coordination.
• Good understanding of county health systems and facility‑based service delivery in Kenya.
• Experience in ASAL, humanitarian, emergency or hard‑to‑reach settings is an advantage.
