Mechanical Engineering Internship

About the role

Agsol is an award‑winning impact‑driven company developing solar‑powered grain milling machines for African communities. As the business scales, the team is looking for a motivated mechanical engineering graduate to join a 3‑month paid full‑time internship, with the possibility of full‑time employment for high‑performing candidates.

Key responsibilities

• Support design and manufacturing of new products and accessories, creating and updating 3D models in Solid Edge.
• Produce detailed 2D manufacturing drawings and documentation for assembly, quality control, and customers.
• Collaborate with part‑time expert contractors on design challenges and prototype new designs using lathes, vertical mills, power tools, and 3D printers.
• Gather customer feedback, propose design improvements, and keep documentation current.
• Diagnose field failures, perform root‑cause analysis, and suggest robust design or process changes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (design or manufacturing) with at least second‑class honors.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, material selection, and manufacturing processes.
• Hands‑on experience building prototypes and using workshop equipment.
• Excellent analytical ability, attention to detail, and independent problem‑solving skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Solid Edge or similar 3D CAD software.
• Hands‑on experience operating lathes, vertical mills, welding machines, and 3D printers.
• Metrology and precision measurement techniques.
• Data analysis and reporting using Excel.
• Competence with the MS Office suite.
