About the role
The Mechanisation Specialist will own the technical standards for all mechanised field operations across multiple clusters in Kenya. Reporting to the Head of Agronomy & Operations, the role ensures that contracted machinery meets defined specifications, assesses work quality, and supports procurement and field teams.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain machinery specifications aligned with SOPs and service contracts for each agronomic activity.
- Inspect contracted tractors and implements against checklists before mobilisation and certify compliance.
- Verify equipment performance in the field (depth, calibration, coverage) before work begins.
- Assess completed work, issue Work Completion Certificates, and trigger balance payments only for compliant work.
- Maintain a qualified per‑cluster list of service providers and keep it updated for procurement.
- Train Field Officers on machinery inspection, work assessment, and SOP enforcement.
- Provide technical specifications for RFQs, SLAs, and KPI reviews.
