Medical Coder & Terminology & Formulary Manager

About the role

Neotech Kenya Limited seeks a motivated professional to lead medical coding, national terminology governance, and insurance formulary management, supporting interoperability across healthcare systems.

Key responsibilities

• Assign accurate clinical codes using ICD‑10, ICD‑11, SNOMED CT, LOINC, CPT, HCPCS, ATC and other standards.
• Maintain national terminology repositories, mappings and support HL7 FHIR and HIE integrations.
• Manage insurance medicine formularies, coverage rules, prior‑authorization criteria and benefit limits for multiple insurers and schemes.
• Perform quality reviews, generate reports and support data migration, testing and system implementation projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a health‑related discipline (e.g., Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, Health Informatics).
• Minimum 3 years of experience in medical coding, terminology or formulary management.
• Professional certification such as AAPC CPC, AHIMA CCS or ICD‑10/11 certification is an advantage.

Required skills

• Proficiency with coding standards: ICD‑10, ICD‑11, SNOMED CT, LOINC, CPT, HCPCS, ATC.
• Knowledge of HL7 FHIR, healthcare APIs and interoperability frameworks.
• Strong analytical and data validation abilities.
• Experience with Microsoft Office and healthcare information systems.
