About the role

The Aga Khan Hospital in Kisumu is seeking four Medical Officer Interns to join its clinical teams. This internship provides a supervised environment for recent MBChB graduates to complete registration requirements, develop core clinical competencies, and gain exposure to a range of hospital services.

Key responsibilities

• Take accurate, legible clinical histories and perform physical examinations.
• Document findings, recommendations, and maintain up‑to‑date patient records.
• Follow up patients regularly in assigned departments.
• Request and perform relevant investigations under supervision.
• Participate in surgical procedures under senior guidance.
• Communicate diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow‑up instructions to patients and relatives.
• Prepare case summaries, referral notes, and discharge summaries.
• Present cases during ward rounds, grand rounds, and audit meetings.
• Contribute to clinical audits and continuous medical education activities.

Required profile

• MBChB degree from a recognized medical school.
• Eligibility to register as a medical practitioner in Kenya.
• Willingness to work under supervision and adhere to professional standards.
• Strong commitment to ethical, evidence‑based patient care.

Required skills

• Clinical history taking and physical examination.
