Monitoring Evaluation Accountability and Learning (MEAL) Assistant

About the role

The Monitoring Evaluation Accountability and Learning (MEAL) Assistant supports the implementation of monitoring and evaluation activities for DRC's protection programmes in Kenya. Working closely with the MEAL Officer and field teams, the role ensures data quality, timely reporting, and compliance with DRC MEAL standards.

Key responsibilities

• Design, plan and implement data collection, storage, analysis and sharing strategies.
• Maintain and regularly update project databases in line with programme requirements.
• Provide recommendations on data collection and management methods to improve data quality.
• Support the MEAL Officer with capacity‑building, assessments and reporting tasks.
• Manage the Gender Based Violence Information Management System (GBVIMS), including accurate data entry, cleaning, storage and troubleshooting.
• Enter new beneficiary information, keep the beneficiary database current and ensure AGD (Age, Gender, Diversity) disaggregation.
• Share GBVIMS line data monthly with Protection Team Lead and UNHCR focal point.
• Assist with assessments, community visits and focus groups as needed.

Required profile

• Experience in monitoring and evaluation within humanitarian or protection programmes.
• Ability to work closely with MEAL officers, programme staff and partner agencies.
• Strong attention to detail for accurate data entry and management.

Required skills

• GBVIMS (Gender Based Violence Information Management System) operation.
• Beneficiary database management.
• Data entry and basic data analysis.
