Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL) Manager

About the role

The Tupande MEL Manager will lead all Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) activities for One Acre Fund’s Kenya program, known locally as Tupande. Reporting to senior leadership, the manager ensures that MEL work meets the needs of field teams, global MEL units, donors, and supports the organization’s impact vision.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the MEL strategy for Tupande, overseeing all ongoing and future projects.
• Design and lead impact evaluations, from theory of change to study design and implementation.
• Create data collection tools and ensure adherence to MEL minimum standards across projects.
• Establish and continuously improve quality‑assurance frameworks, monitoring processes, analysis, and reporting systems.
• Collaborate with program teams to translate MEL findings into actionable recommendations.
• Manage the MEL department’s hiring, development, performance management, and budgeting.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading MEL functions in a development or agricultural context.
• Strong understanding of impact evaluation methodologies and data quality principles.
• Ability to communicate complex results clearly to diverse stakeholders.
• Experience managing teams and departmental budgets.
