About the role
The Nutrition Intern will support patient nutritional assessments, meal planning, and monitoring of nutritional progress under the supervision of qualified nutritionists at AIC Kijabe Hospital.
Key responsibilities
- Instruct patients, families and health care staff on individualized diet therapy, general nutrition principles, food selection and preparation.
- Conduct nutritional screenings/assessments for assigned patients applying the nutrition care process.
- Develop, review and adapt therapeutic and modified diets in cooperation with health care staff.
- Guide the catering team on food preparation to ensure compliance with prescribed diets, sanitation, palatability, appearance and nutritional quality.
- Monitor nutrition programs to ensure compliance with local standards and regulations.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Food, Nutrition and Dietetics or a related field.
- Must be indexed by the Kenya Nutritionists and Dietician Institute (KNDI).
- Demonstrate high integrity, ethical practice and the ability to solve problems using nutrition knowledge.
- Ability to multitask effectively.
