Operations Controller – Logistics

About the role

The Operations Controller will supervise fleet planners, coordinate daily transport activities, monitor fleet utilisation and driver productivity, manage operational disruptions, ensure compliance with transport legislation, and prepare performance reports for management.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise fleet planners to ensure effective daily planning, vehicle allocation and timely dispatch.
• Coordinate daily transport operations, ensuring trips are executed efficiently and KPIs are met.
• Monitor fleet utilisation, vehicle availability and driver productivity to maximise efficiency.
• Review and adjust transport schedules based on priorities, customer requirements and fleet status.
• Work with the workshop to minimise vehicle downtime and ensure serviceable fleet availability.
• Manage operational disruptions such as breakdowns, accidents, traffic delays and emergencies by implementing contingency plans.
• Ensure compliance with transport legislation, company policies, safety procedures and customer service standards.
• Prepare and present daily, weekly and monthly performance reports to management.
• Coach, mentor and evaluate fleet planners to drive continuous improvement.
• Lead operational meetings, communicate priorities and performance expectations to the planning team.
