Operations Manager (Healthcare)

About the role

The Operations Manager is responsible for the hospital's day-to-day operational efficiency, resource optimisation, facilities oversight, supply chain management and coordination across departments. The role ensures that clinical teams have the infrastructure, systems and resources needed to deliver high-quality patient care, while maintaining operational efficiency, cost discipline and regulatory compliance. It also drives improvements in key metrics such as bed occupancy, theatre utilisation, supply chain reliability and cost-to-revenue management.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee hospital daily operations and service delivery across departments.
• Manage facilities, logistics and operational infrastructure.
• Ensure optimal use of hospital assets, including beds, theatres and medical equipment.
• Lead supply chain management, including procurement, inventory control and vendor relationships.
• Monitor operational KPIs such as occupancy rates, service efficiency and turnaround times.
• Implement operational improvement initiatives to boost efficiency and patient experience.
• Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and operational policies.
• Coordinate closely with clinical, finance and HR departments for seamless service delivery.

Performance targets

• Average bed occupancy of at least 65% and theatre utilisation of at least 60% during operating hours.
• Hospital equipment and infrastructure uptime of at least 95%.
• Operational cost-to-revenue variance within 3% of the approved budget.
• Inventory losses kept to a minimum.
