Operations Manager - International Supply Chain

About the role

Career Directions Limited is looking for a hands-on, structured Operations Manager to lead its Nairobi operations. The role covers day-to-day team leadership, process building and simplification, and extends beyond Kenya to international suppliers, clients, shipping lines, transporters and 3PL partners.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise, lead and support the operations team daily, manage workload and coverage, and act as the main point of contact for operational issues
• Lead cross-functional coordination with trading, treasury and trade finance to design and implement efficient processes, and train and develop the team
• Oversee shipment execution end-to-end (containers, trucking, bulk and breakbulk) and coordinate with international suppliers, clients and service providers
• Ensure accurate system updates, documentation and payment follow-ups, and monitor stock movements, reconciliations and operational controls
• Ensure compliance with local (Kenyan) and international regulations

Required profile

• 3-5 years of experience in operations with proven leadership experience; supply chain, logistics and multi-commodity experience helpful
• Experience with international logistics and multi-country operations
• Proven leadership, strong problem-solving and hands-on approach
• Ability to create clear processes and drive their implementation across teams
• Highly organized, with strong attention to detail and a sense of ownership

Required skills

• Very strong system and IT capability and experience
• Familiarity with shipping lines, 3PLs and transport coordination
• Knowledge of local and international regulations
• Experience in stock management and operational controls
