Pharmaceutical Technologist

About the role

The Pharmacy Department of Valley Hospital is looking for a qualified, patient‑focused Pharmaceutical Technologist to join the team. You will ensure accurate dispensing, provide medication counselling and support inventory management while complying with all regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret and dispense prescriptions with high accuracy.
• Provide clear medication counselling on dosage, precautions, side‑effects and storage.
• Manage pharmaceutical inventory, including stock rotation, audits and monitoring low‑stock or near‑expiry items.
• Identify and report medication errors and adverse drug reactions according to pharmacovigilance protocols.
• Collaborate with doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals to promote safe medication use.

Required profile

• Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology.
• Current membership with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board.
• Minimum three (3) years of relevant experience in a comparable healthcare facility.
• Strong understanding of pharmaceutical regulations, professional standards and patient safety.
• Commitment to confidentiality, ethical practice and continuous professional development.

Required skills

• Excellent accuracy and attention to detail in prescription interpretation.
• Strong patient counselling and communication abilities.
• Good knowledge of pharmaceutical inventory management practices.
• Proficiency with relevant pharmacy software and IT systems.
