About the role
The United Nations Office of the Special Envoy of the Secretary‑General on the Great Lakes Region is seeking a motivated intern to support its Political Affairs Unit in Nairobi. This 3‑6 month placement offers exposure to high‑level diplomatic work and research on regional political issues.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare documents for review, including correspondence, talking points and background notes.
- Conduct research on topics of interest to the Political Affairs Unit using public sources.
- Attend meetings, conferences and seminars and produce summary notes.
- Provide logistical assistance for conferences, meetings, seminars and workshops.
- Perform other duties as required by the supervising Political Affairs Officer.
Required profile
- Enrolled in or completed a graduate programme, or in the final year of a bachelor’s degree, in a field related to the Office’s work.
- Fluency in spoken and written English; working‑level knowledge of French.
