Principal Generalist Engineer

About the role

Moniepoint is looking for a senior Generalist Engineer to join its Research & Development team. You will own problems end‑to‑end, delivering complete production systems that span software, distributed infrastructure, data pipelines and, when appropriate, machine learning.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build reliable, scalable, observable production‑grade systems.
• Own the full lifecycle: problem definition, design, implementation, deployment and operations.
• Work across application services, distributed systems, infrastructure, data pipelines and ML components.
• Debug complex production issues across multiple layers and make trade‑offs grounded in first‑principles.
• Improve performance, latency, reliability and cost efficiency while contributing to architecture direction.
• Frame problems correctly, deciding when ML is appropriate versus deterministic solutions.

Required profile

• Strong CS fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, OS, networking, distributed systems).
• Solid probability and statistics knowledge.
• Experience building production systems at scale.
• Ability to work across languages such as Go, Java, Python, Rust and SQL.
• Comfort with Linux, containers and Kubernetes.
• Strong debugging skills and ability to reason about invariants and failure modes.
