Principal Supply Chain Management Officer

About the role

The Principal Supply Chain Management Officer leads procurement planning, contract administration and inventory management for the Kenya Veterinary Board, ensuring compliance with national regulations and efficient delivery of goods and services.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and review supply chain policies, procedures and programmes.
• Coordinate procurement plans, budgets and sourcing of suppliers through RFQs.
• Approve store requisitions, prepare purchase orders and oversee payment processing.
• Prepare quarterly reports for the National Treasury and the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority.
• Develop tender specifications and performance standards for capital equipment and services.
• Ensure compliance with the Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Act, 2015 and related regulations.
• Manage disposal of obsolete assets in line with government policies.
• Assess supplier capability and performance, and develop contract terms.

Required profile

• At least nine (9) years of relevant experience, including three (3) years at senior supply chain level.
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Logistics, Commerce, Business Administration or Economics.
• Certified Procurement and Supply Professional of Kenya (CPSP‑K) or equivalent.
• Member of the Kenya Institute of Supplies Management (KISM) in good standing.
• Valid practicing license and a management course of at least four weeks.
• Proficiency in computer applications.
