Privacy Attorney – Remote

About the role

Soteria Systems is seeking a seasoned Privacy Attorney to join its Privacy & Compliance team remotely. You will guide clients through complex data protection regulations, help build robust privacy programs, and ensure compliance with evolving legal standards.

Key responsibilities

• Advise clients on privacy and data protection laws and regulatory obligations.
• Draft, review, and negotiate privacy-related agreements, policies, and notices.
• Conduct privacy gap assessments and support remediation initiatives.
• Assist with data protection impact assessments and incident response processes.
• Provide guidance on cross‑border data transfers and vendor management.
• Monitor legal developments and translate them into actionable recommendations.
• Support the implementation of privacy governance frameworks and training programs.
• Collaborate with technical and compliance teams to deliver integrated solutions.

Required profile

• 5+ years of legal experience with significant exposure to privacy and data protection matters.
• Qualified to practice law in any jurisdiction.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple client matters independently and meet deadlines.
• Comfortable working fully remotely and collaborating within distributed teams.
• Willingness to work 1 pm – 10 pm East Africa Time on a regular basis.
