About the role
Optasia is seeking a Regional Regulatory Affairs & Compliance Specialist for East Africa to support the growth of its fintech platform. The role will act as the first line of defense, ensuring the company complies with evolving regulations and maintains a strong risk culture.
Key responsibilities
- Serve as the primary contact with regulators across the region, managing new regulations, reporting obligations and prudential guidelines.
- Lead horizon‑scanning activities to identify upcoming regulatory changes and disseminate alerts to relevant teams.
- Support the Head of Regulatory Affairs & Compliance and Regional Compliance Managers in strategy implementation and regulatory risk assessments.
- Monitor ongoing compliance with laws and guidelines, and prepare structured assessments of regulatory risk exposure.
- Develop and deliver training, awareness programmes and internal communications to embed a culture of compliance.
- Create marketing and training materials that align with regulatory requirements.
- Perform general administrative duties related to regulatory reporting and documentation.
Required profile
- Enthusiastic professional with a results‑driven, can‑do attitude.
- Strong understanding of laws and regulations affecting fintech and micro‑finance operations in East Africa.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
