Procurement Officer – Migori

About the role

The Procurement Officer will ensure timely, cost‑effective, and compliant acquisition of goods, services, and medical supplies needed for uninterrupted patient care at the hospital. This role works closely with department heads, finance, and stores to maintain quality standards and reliable supplier relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement procurement plans in coordination with departmental heads.
• Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to secure competitive pricing and quality products.
• Prepare and issue purchase orders in line with approved budgets and procurement policies.
• Maintain an updated, pre‑qualified supplier database.
• Ensure proper documentation and filing of procurement records for audit and compliance.
• Monitor supplier performance and guarantee timely delivery of goods and services.
• Coordinate with finance for invoice verification and payment processing.
• Conduct regular market surveys and benchmarking to ensure value for money.
• Manage inventory levels with stores to prevent stock‑outs and overstocking.
• Participate in tendering processes and evaluation committees as required.

Required profile

• Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or a related field.
• Membership with the Kenya Institute of Supplies Management.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably within a healthcare setting.
• Strong negotiation and vendor management abilities.
• High level of integrity and understanding of procurement ethics.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Experience with procurement systems.
