Procurement Officer – Westlands

About the role

The Procurement Officer will ensure timely, cost‑effective and compliant acquisition of goods, services and medical supplies needed for hospital operations, supporting uninterrupted patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement procurement plans in coordination with department heads.
• Source, evaluate and negotiate with suppliers to secure competitive pricing and quality.
• Prepare and issue purchase orders in line with approved budgets and policies.
• Maintain an up‑to‑date, pre‑qualified supplier database.
• Ensure proper documentation and filing of procurement records for audit and compliance.
• Monitor supplier performance and timely delivery of goods and services.
• Coordinate with finance for invoice verification and payment processing.
• Adhere to internal procurement policies and statutory requirements.
• Conduct market surveys and benchmarking to ensure value for money.
• Manage inventory levels with stores to avoid stock‑outs or overstocking.
• Participate in tendering processes and evaluation committees as required.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives within the procurement function.

Required profile

• Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or related field.
• Membership with the Kenya Institute of Supplies Management.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience, preferably in a healthcare setting.
• Strong negotiation and vendor management abilities.
• High integrity and understanding of procurement ethics.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Experience with procurement systems.
