Product Manager - Security (Ubuntu Pro Services)

About the role

Canonical is hiring a Product Manager for its Ubuntu Pro Services security offering, based in Nairobi (Westlands). The role leads the product development lifecycle, reviews priorities and goals, and oversees a product line while collaborating with engineering, design, marketing and sales.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the product development lifecycle, review priorities and goals, and keep business execution on track
• Conduct market research, analyse industry trends and gather customer feedback to identify opportunities
• Communicate the product vision, status updates and key decisions to stakeholders
• Run usability testing, analyse user feedback and iterate on the product
• Work with marketing, sales and support on go-to-market strategies, product documentation and training
• Support the sales team by reviewing customer feedback and taking part in customer meetings
• Oversee a product line and resolve conflicts between teams

Required profile

• Exceptional academic results at high school and university
• Understanding of Linux and the wider open source software community
• Understanding of computer architecture, application development, datacenters, cloud or devices
• Passion for writing about technology and a strong work ethic aligned with the open source movement
• Curiosity, continuous learning, ownership, problem-solving and innovation
• Outstanding spoken and written English
• For more senior positions: product management experience in software, ability to manage multiple projects, demonstrated leadership and consensus building
• Willingness to travel internationally up to four times a year for events lasting up to two weeks
