Production Engineer - FMCG Plant Maintenance

About the role

Q-Sourcing, a manpower management solutions firm operating across East Africa, is recruiting on behalf of its client a competent, skilled and experienced Production Engineer to work in Kenya. The engineer leads a technical team providing maintenance support for a client FMCG manufacturing plant.

Key responsibilities

• Mechanical, electrical, workshop/fabrication, boiler and compressor, ETP, fire suppression, water supply, conveyor, HVAC and refrigeration maintenance and operation
• Ensure adequate departmental staffing and supervise engineering and technical staff
• Plan and carry out scheduled inspections and maintenance, respond promptly to breakdowns
• Follow a strict machine inspection schedule to diagnose faults and initiate repairs, aiming for zero downtime
• Obtain specialist components, fixtures, fittings and materials; manage budgets and departmental records
• Ensure compliance with site health and safety regulations and proper housekeeping

Required profile

• At least five years' experience in a busy FMCG manufacturing plant in a senior maintenance supervisory or managerial role
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and registration with the Engineers Board of Kenya
• Ability to work under pressure with little or no supervision, and good communication, planning and people management skills

Required skills

• Project scoping, design and costing
• Proficiency in engineering design software such as Autodesk AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor
