Program Development Manager

About the role

The Program Development Manager will support the Impact, Innovation and Influencing Director and country programme staff to grow funding and partnerships for Save the Children Kenya. Based in Nairobi with field travel as needed, the role leads the end‑to‑end proposal development process, ensuring submissions are responsive, competitive and aligned with the Country Strategic Plan.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, writing and budgeting of donor proposals in collaboration with the PDQII, Operations and Finance teams.
• Coordinate proposal timelines, ensure compliance with donor requirements and integrate budgets into final submissions.
• Develop and implement donor engagement plans and continuous learning processes.
• Maintain strong coordination across senior management, technical specialists, MEAL, Operations, Finance, Awards, HR, Supply Chain, Security and Partnerships.
• Respond to major humanitarian emergencies, adapting working hours and priorities as required.
• Ensure innovative programme designs align with Save the Children’s three Breakthroughs for children, especially the most deprived and marginalized.

Required profile

• Proven experience in programme development, fundraising or grant management within humanitarian or development contexts.
• Demonstrated agile leadership and ability to manage multiple complex tasks under tight deadlines.
• Excellent stakeholder management and relationship‑building skills across functional teams.
• Willingness to travel and work in field settings, including emergency situations.
