Program Manager

About the role

The Programme Manager holds end‑to‑end responsibility for how the Foundation's programmes run day to day, turning approved proposals and logframes into workable plans, budgets and delivery schedules, and steering them to measurable results.

Key responsibilities

• Convert proposals and logframes into detailed implementation plans and budgets, set annual goals and track delivery against weekly and monthly milestones.
• Own budget execution: monitor expenditure, analyse budget‑versus‑actual reports, resolve discrepancies and ensure transparent fund deployment.
• Manage the full partner lifecycle: identify, vet and formalise agreements with implementation partners, conduct field visits and review narrative and financial reports.
• Collaborate with Measurement, Evidence and Learning teams to define performance metrics, gather data and feed findings back into programme improvement.
• Prepare internal progress updates, donor reports and ensure all reporting obligations are met accurately and on schedule.
• Anticipate programmatic risks, implement mitigation measures early and respond effectively to crises or emergencies.
• Supervise direct reports, assess training needs, deliver capacity‑building sessions and provide regular performance feedback.
• Represent the Foundation in working groups, education forums and planning sessions, maintaining coordination with donors, NGOs and internal support functions.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in business administration, development studies, social sciences or a related discipline; a master's degree is an advantage.
• At least 7 years of relevant programme management experience in impact‑driven organisations.
• Proven coordination with local and international NGOs, donor representation and hands‑on work with donor‑funded programmes.
• Project management certification such as PMP or PRINCE2, or formal training in Agile methodologies.
• Strong analytical, planning and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with digital programme management tools such as Kobo Toolbox, Power BI and CRM systems.
