Programme Accountant

About the role

Trócaire, an international NGO based in Nairobi, is seeking a Programme Accountant to manage the financial and grant oversight of its Somalia programme, particularly in the Gedo region. The role combines robust financial management with partner‑facing responsibilities and requires regular field travel.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive grant management for donor‑funded projects, ensuring compliance with donors such as FCDO, Irish Aid, ECHO and UN.
• Monitor project budgets, expenditures, cash flows and forecasts using Agresso (Unit4) and Salesforce, preparing timely adjustments.
• Prepare accurate financial and donor reports, including variance analyses and narrative justifications.
• Support the development of proposal budgets in collaboration with programme and BDGM teams.
• Coordinate project audits, maintain audit trackers and assist with corrective actions.
• Assist with monthly account closures, batch uploads and posting to Agresso.
• Manage reporting of Donor Assigned Funds and Institutional Funding grants, and conduct monthly reconciliations of budget versus actuals.
• Update Salesforce with finance data, donor reports, budgets and audit information.

Required profile

• Experience in financial management and grant administration within the NGO or international development sector.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and advise on variances.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work under audit and reporting deadlines.
• Willingness to travel regularly to field locations, including the Gedo region.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Agresso (Unit4) financial system.
• Experience using Salesforce for finance and reporting.
• Knowledge of donor compliance requirements and grant reporting.
