Programme Coordination Expert

About the role

The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN‑Habitat) is seeking a Programme Coordination Expert to support the implementation and monitoring of its Durable Solutions programmes in Somalia. Based in Nairobi, the consultant will work closely with UN‑Habitat teams, Somali authorities and other partners to ensure effective project, financial and administrative management.

Key responsibilities

• Provide substantive support for sound project management, financial and administrative oversight of core activities across all Durable Solutions programmes.
• Assist in monitoring and reporting on the implementation of the National Solutions Pathways Action Plan (2024‑2029) and related M&E frameworks.
• Contribute to the profiling and strategic positioning of the Durable Solutions portfolio within the broader Somalia Programme.
• Coordinate with UN‑Habitat, government, NGOs and other stakeholders to align activities with the UN‑Habitat Strategic Plan 2026‑2029.
• Support the preparation of budgets, financial tracking, and administrative documentation for programme activities.

Required profile

• Proven experience in project coordination, financial and administrative management in humanitarian or development settings.
• Familiarity with durable solutions for internally displaced persons and UN‑Habitat’s strategic objectives.
• Ability to work in a multi‑stakeholder environment and liaise with government and partner agencies.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills, with attention to detail.
