Programme Management Officer – Fixed Term

About the role

The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN‑Habitat) is seeking a Programme Management Officer to join its Planning and Finance Section in Nairobi. This fixed‑term position supports the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of urban planning and finance programmes that address sustainable development and humanitarian‑development challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Implement, monitor and evaluate programmes, operations and activities within the assigned functional area.
• Coordinate the development, testing and dissemination of planning policies, standards, tools and methodologies.
• Support the integration of urban planning, municipal finance and local economic development initiatives.
• Collaborate with humanitarian partners to promote the “New Way of Working” for refugee settlements.
• Report directly to the Chief of the Planning and Finance Section and ensure alignment with the Global Solutions Division’s strategic plan.

Required profile

• Relevant university degree in urban planning, public administration, finance or a related field.
• Professional experience in programme management, preferably within an international or UN context.
• Understanding of urban development, municipal finance and the humanitarian‑development nexus.
• Ability to work in a multicultural environment and liaise with government and partner organisations.
