Project Development Lead – Fiji Ecosystem Restoration

About the role

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) seeks an experienced consultant to lead the preparation of the GEF CEO Endorsement package for the Fiji project “Restoring Ecosystems: Tackling Invasive Alien Species to Preserve Biodiversity”. The role is home‑based with occasional travel to Fiji.

Key responsibilities

• Organise, coordinate and lead the full Project Preparation Grant (PPG) process, including timeline, agenda and methodology.
• Prepare and compile the CEO Endorsement package with all annexes, costed M&E work plan, results framework and gender analysis.
• Participate in field missions and virtual discussions with the design team, government agencies and civil‑society partners.
• Monitor progress, report risks and propose mitigation measures, and supervise national consultants.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in biodiversity sciences, environmental sciences, natural resource management or a closely related field.
• Proven experience in GEF project design, implementation and monitoring, especially in biodiversity conservation and invasive alien species management.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of GEF rules, policies and standards.
• Ability to develop costed monitoring & evaluation plans and results frameworks with SMART indicators.
