Project Manager – Utility Scale Solar PV & BESS

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of a landmark Utility Scale Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) EPC project in Kenya. This senior position carries full operational responsibility from mobilisation through commissioning and commercial operation.

Key responsibilities

• Assume overall accountability for project execution, ensuring safety, schedule, budget and quality targets are met.
• Lead site operations, overseeing construction managers, engineers, HSE personnel, quality teams and support staff.
• Manage major subcontractors, suppliers and consultants to meet contractual and performance obligations.
• Coordinate engineering, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning and hand‑over activities.
• Report progress, risks and commercial performance to executive management.
• Develop and implement recovery plans when required.
• Maintain strong relationships with clients, regulators, utilities and key stakeholders.
• Promote a culture of accountability, professionalism, teamwork and uncompromising health‑safety standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• At least 12 years of experience in utility‑scale renewable energy, power generation or EPC construction.
• Minimum 6 years as a Project Manager delivering major EPC or utility‑scale renewable projects.
• Proven delivery of utility‑scale Solar PV projects of 50 MW + from mobilisation to commercial operation.
• Demonstrated responsibility for programme, budget, commercial performance, quality, HSE and client satisfaction.
• Extensive experience managing large multidisciplinary and international teams and major subcontractors.
