Project Officer – Agriculture & Enterprise Development

About the role

The Project Officer will be the primary iDE Kenya representative in Tharaka Nithi County, leading field‑level implementation of the Transforming Lives through Nutrition (TLTN) project. Working closely with consortium partners, county officials and local communities, the officer ensures activities are delivered on time, within budget and in line with the Detailed Implementation Plan.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, implement, monitor and report project activities according to the DIP and MEARL plan.
• Track budgets, support partners in day‑to‑day project handling and ensure quality implementation.
• Provide technical guidance to Farm Business Advisors, SMEs and smallholder farmers.
• Conduct technical assessments, studies and contribute to knowledge creation.
• Maintain strong relationships with county government departments (Agriculture, Health, etc.).
• Prepare monthly work‑plans, progress reports and document best practices, case studies and photos.
• Support partner and vendor due‑diligence assessments as required.
• Integrate GESI considerations throughout project activities and flag gaps.
• Perform any other tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Food/Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics, Enterprise Development or a related field.
• Training certificate in Market System Development is an advantage.
• At least 2–3 years of field and technical experience implementing projects in agricultural value chains or market‑system development.
