Project Planning Specialist

About the role

UNOPS is looking for a Project Planning Specialist to lead the development and maintenance of an Integrated Master Schedule for a complex infrastructure program in Nairobi. This is a one‑year contractor position based remotely, reporting to the program management team.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and update the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS), consolidating all project schedules into a coherent plan.
• Create work breakdown structures, planning standards and baseline calendars, ensuring consistency across teams.
• Perform Critical Path Method (CPM) analyses, identify critical activities, and devise recovery plans.
• Plan and manage human, material and equipment resources, detecting conflicts and advising on trade‑offs.
• Update schedules with progress data, calculate performance indicators and produce reliable forecasts.
• Identify schedule‑related risks, assess impacts of scope changes, and support risk and change analysis.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Project Management or a related field with at least 5 years of planning and scheduling experience.
• Significant experience in complex infrastructure programs; PMP or PMI‑SP certification is desirable.
• Fluent French (required) and fluent English (desirable).
