Protection Assistant – Community-Based Protection

About the role

The Protection Assistant will support the Protection Officer in delivering community‑based protection activities across refugee and host‑community camps. The role focuses on gender‑based violence (GBV) prevention, disability inclusion and youth engagement, ensuring that protection services are inclusive and meet donor requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Mobilise and facilitate meetings with community leaders, GBV support groups and other stakeholders to raise awareness and promote dialogue.
• Strengthen referral systems and networks for GBV prevention and coordinate with response teams for case management.
• Conduct training sessions for community members and agency staff on GBV, disability inclusion and youth protection.
• Maintain and expand partnerships with service providers to ensure effective referrals for vulnerable persons of concern.
• Implement prevention activities such as EMAP, SASA and other community‑based interventions.
• Collect, consolidate and submit weekly reports using appropriate data‑collection tools.
• Apply an Age, Gender and Diversity (AGD) approach in all protection activities.

Required profile

• Experience working in humanitarian protection, GBV prevention or community‑based programmes.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multi‑disciplinary teams and local partners.
• Strong communication skills for facilitating trainings and community forums.
• Commitment to inclusive protection for refugees, host communities and vulnerable groups.
