Psychiatric Nurse (Full-time)

About the role

Avenue Healthcare is seeking a dedicated Psychiatric Nurse to join its clinical team in Westlands. The role involves providing comprehensive nursing care to patients throughout their treatment journey, ensuring safety, medication accuracy, and adherence to clinical protocols.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with the clinical team to navigate patients through treatment plans and address underlying medical conditions.
• Administer nursing protocols, record sentinel incidents within 24 hours, and maintain accurate patient charts.
• Monitor, assess, and document patients' physical and psycho‑social status, adjusting treatment as needed.
• Ensure proper drug administration, manage medication supplies, and uphold infection‑control standards.
• Participate in patient admissions, ward rounds, handovers, and obtain informed consent for procedures.
• Supervise patient attendants and manage patient data and records securely.
• Maintain compliance with the International Patient Safety Goals and Avenue Healthcare governance policies.
• Support unit financial viability through cost management and proper pre‑authorization documentation.

Required profile

• BScN or Diploma in Nursing (Higher Diploma is an advantage).
• Valid Nursing License from the Nursing Council of Kenya.
• Current certifications in BLS and ACLS.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a busy healthcare environment.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and team‑working abilities.
• Customer‑focused, ethical, and highly responsive attitude.

Required skills

• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification.
