QA Supervisor – Plastics

About the role

Haco Industries (Kenya) Limited, an FMCG manufacturer supplying personal and home care brands to East Africa and the COMESA markets, is looking for a QA Supervisor for its plastics plant in Nairobi. The role is the hands-on quality authority, enforcing quality standards and regulatory compliance across all manufacturing processes so that components are defect-free.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect incoming polymers, packaging and raw materials; monitor molding and extrusion lines (cycle times, temperatures, tolerances); quarantine non-conforming goods and run pre-loading inspections.
• Maintain compliance with ISO 9001:2015, ISO 22716 (GMP), KEBS, FDA and ZABS; manage the CAPA process and update SOPs.
• Supervise, schedule and coach shift QA inspectors, hold daily quality and safety briefings and identify training gaps.
• Drive Lean, 5S and Kaizen initiatives and lead weight-reduction, optimization and recycling projects.
• Audit third-party manufacturing sites quarterly and investigate customer complaints and trade returns within the same day.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Technology or a related science field.
• 3-5 years of QA experience in plastics, FMCG or manufacturing, including at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
• Attention to detail, people leadership, problem-solving and objectivity under production pressure.

Required skills

• In-depth knowledge of injection molding and extrusion, ISO 9001:2015, GMP and Lean (5S/Kaizen).
• ERP systems (Sage preferred).
• Practical understanding of KEBS, FDA, ZABS and East African regulatory frameworks.
