Quality Control Supervisor - Fresh Produce

About the role

Brites Management Services is hiring a full-time Quality Control Supervisor in South C, Nairobi, for its fresh fruits and vegetables supply business. The supervisor ensures that produce received, stored, packed and dispatched meets quality standards and customer specifications, enforces food safety compliance, minimises product loss and leads the quality team.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect incoming produce for freshness, maturity, defects and specification compliance, and supervise grading, sorting, washing, packing and storage.
• Ensure only products meeting company and customer standards are dispatched, and conduct routine quality inspections across the supply chain.
• Monitor shelf-life and product condition during storage.
• Enforce HACCP, ISO 22000, GMP and GHP standards, ensure compliance with food safety regulations and internal policies, train staff on hygiene and quality procedures, and support audits and certification.
• Supervise and coach the quality team, assign tasks, monitor performance and collaborate with operations, procurement and logistics to resolve quality issues.
• Maintain inspection records, quality reports and corrective actions, prepare daily, weekly and monthly performance reports, report non-conformities and document product losses.

Required profile

• Degree in Food Science & Technology or a related field, or a diploma in Food Science, Horticulture, Agriculture, Quality Assurance or a related field with relevant experience.
• 1-3 years of quality control experience in fresh produce, food processing, agriculture or FMCG, or 2-4 years including at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Experience in the fresh fruits and vegetables sector is highly preferred.

Required skills

• Knowledge of HACCP, ISO 22000, GMP and GHP food safety systems (preferred)
• Quality assurance and food safety compliance
