Recreation Services Manager

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Recreation Services Manager to lead morale, welfare, and recreation (MWR) programs for a U.S. Navy installation on Diego Garcia. The role oversees staff, ensures safety compliance, and delivers high‑quality recreational activities for service members and their families.

Key responsibilities

• Manage resale operations and MWR programs to meet the needs of the military community.
• Ensure compliance with CNICINST 1710.3 hazardous‑materials handling and maintain CPR certification for relevant personnel.
• Train staff in Navy MWR Star Service/AECB customer‑service standards.
• Provide on‑call availability for emergencies and act as a certified American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Instructor.
• Officiate and supervise sports leagues (soccer, basketball, volleyball, softball, flag football) ensuring fairness and quality.
• Organize diverse recreational events for installation personnel and families.
• Monitor facility usage, maintain budgets, and ensure financial responsibility.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in recreation, sports management, business administration or related field, or three years of relevant experience.
• Minimum five years of specialized experience in NF‑4/NAFI or similar middle‑manager roles.
• Valid passport (minimum one‑year validity) and ability to obtain required visas and security clearances.
• Ability to meet medical, security and deployment requirements for a remote overseas assignment.

Required skills

• Certified American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Instructor.
• Current CPR, HAZMAT, First Aid and MWR Star Service/AECR certifications.
• Proficiency in officiating soccer, basketball, volleyball, softball and flag football.
• Strong leadership and organizational abilities to manage multiple programs and staff.
