Recycling Maintenance Supervisor

About the role

The Recycling Maintenance Supervisor will lead the day‑to‑day operations of our recycling plant in Westlands, Nairobi. Reporting to the CTO, you will oversee both the recycling and maintenance teams, ensuring smooth production, high equipment availability and compliance with safety and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise plant staff, manage attendance and coordinate machine operators, sorting and maintenance activities.
• Implement and monitor quality control procedures to meet regulatory and company specifications.
• Enforce health, safety and environmental protocols and conduct regular equipment audits.
• Plan and execute preventive and corrective maintenance to minimise downtime.
• Track and report key performance indicators such as OEE, productivity and equipment breakdowns.
• Maintain accurate records of processes, materials, inventory and staff performance.
• Prepare weekly and monthly performance reports and manage petty‑cash requests.
• Collaborate with logistics for timely removal of processed materials.
• Analyse existing processes, propose improvements and support new equipment design with the engineering team.
• Conduct market research on emerging recycling technologies and generate innovation ideas.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 3‑5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing or processing environment; electrical background is a plus.
• Strong understanding of plant operations, logistics, sorting, baling and overall equipment efficiency.
• Knowledge of health, safety and environmental regulations.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to operate, troubleshoot and maintain industrial machinery.
• Data analysis for decision‑making and process optimisation.
