Regional Digital Communication Specialist

About the role

The International Committee of the Red Cross is seeking a Regional Digital Communication Specialist to lead the creation and distribution of compelling digital content across its African operations. The role combines strategic planning, content production, and community engagement to amplify the humanitarian impact of the ICRC.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement regional digital communication strategies that increase visibility of ICRC’s work.
• Create, edit and publish multimedia content – stories, articles, photos, videos, GIFs, social media posts and threads – optimized for web and social platforms.
• Manage official social media channels, engage online communities, respond to comments and maintain a consistent brand voice.
• Plan, execute and evaluate integrated digital campaigns, defining objectives, KPIs and metrics.
• Maintain editorial calendars and coordinate content production with headquarters, regional teams and country delegations.
• Provide technical and editorial guidance on digital storytelling, web publishing and social‑media best practices.
• Promote “Information as Aid” content, ensuring accessibility and relevance.
• Offer SEO and SEM advice to improve discoverability and audience reach.
• Monitor digital trends and platform performance using analytics tools.

Required profile

• Proven experience in digital communication within an international or humanitarian context.
• Strong editorial judgment and ability to adapt content for diverse audiences.
• Excellent written and visual storytelling skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams and time zones.
