Regional Finance Controller - West and East Africa

About the role

The Regional Finance Controller provides financial oversight, governance, assurance, compliance and capacity building across Islamic Relief's country offices and implementing partners in West and East Africa. Reporting to the Global Finance Operations Lead, the role combines strategic oversight with hands-on support, with about 50% of the time spent travelling across the region. It sits in Westlands, Nairobi.

Key responsibilities

• Assess financial performance and mentor regional finance teams
• Identify and mitigate risk and support fraud prevention initiatives
• Strengthen donor and statutory compliance and improve internal control frameworks
• Support programme delivery and donor confidence
• Provide technical guidance and leadership across the regional portfolio

Required profile

• Professionally recognised accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW, ICMA or equivalent)
• Senior-level financial management experience, ideally in the humanitarian, NGO, development or non-profit sector
• Experience leading financial governance, compliance, assurance and internal control across multiple entities or locations
• Experience managing donor compliance and statutory obligations
• Fluency in English and French
• Desirable: experience in donor-funded programmes, fragile or complex environments, and with implementing partners and sub-grantees
