Regional Professionalized Services Engineer

About the role

The Regional Professionalized Services Engineer provides engineering support, technical quality assurance, and capacity building for water system projects across East Africa. Reporting to the Regional OPS Manager, the role is based in Nairobi with regular travel to Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, and Malawi.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver technical training, coaching, and field demonstrations for staff and service providers.
• Conduct infrastructure assessments, root‑cause analysis, and provide corrective and preventive recommendations.
• Lead regional QA/QC processes, including inspections, commissioning, and post‑implementation verification.
• Prepare engineering assessments, calculations, drawings, specifications, and scopes of work for system upgrades and repairs.
• Support country teams with preventive maintenance plans, spare‑parts strategies, and asset condition assessments using mWater and other tools.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Chemical, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum four years of relevant experience, including at least three years designing, installing, commissioning, or maintaining rural water systems.
• Strong Christian faith aligned with Water Mission’s Statement of Faith and core values.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel up to three months per year in East Africa.
• Legal authorization to work in Kenya.

Required skills

• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or EPANET.
• Experience using mobile data collection and asset‑management platforms such as mWater.
• Strong analytical, process design, and project planning abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English; Swahili familiarity is a plus.
• Competence with Microsoft Office suite.
